He has played the violin since he was 6 and his violin teacher's husband introduced him to the world of violin making. Julian trained at Merton College near London and loves the variety that comes with this job. 'It's a cross between woodwork, fine art, the antiques trade and in some cases Silversmithing if you learn to make bows. Playing the violin isn't necessary but it is enjoyable.'

A luthier is someone who makes or repairs stringed instruments! In this class, students will hear an introduction to the world of luthery. Julian will provide a brief description of his journey, some of the work he does and the various jobs within industry.
