Nigel ArmitageHost: Nigel Armitage has been fashioning items from leather for over 30 years. As a bespoke maker of handmade leather goods, Nigel has built up a broad skillset in the craft. In more recent years, Nigel has begun teaching these skills in his Staffordshire based workshop along with traveling abroad to both lecture and teach.

In this class, Nigel Armitage will talk through a day in the life of a Bespoke Maker and the journey he took to get to where he is now.

Along with his face to face courses, Nigel has created a large online video resource in the form of ‘Secrets from the Workshop’, he offers mentoring in person as well as online. Having studied the traditional style of leatherwork for most of his career, Nigel has adjusted many of the difficult to master techniques into a more modern style, making leatherwork more achievable for everyone.

An accomplished author of two books with a third being planned, Nigel is a credible and respected authority on the subject of leatherwork. Nigel is also an NVQ Assessor and can assist if you are undertaking formal qualifications.

This class is part of the Creative Craft Careers series with Heritage Crafts - a great series of classes for students who have an interest in crafts and want to explore more of the many career opportunities available.
