Why is it that there is not enough drinking water in the world, when there are so many oceans? In this class, students will discuss how to answer this difficult question, by discussing different types of substances, classifying them as pure or not, and then describing the steps that are taken in separating chemicals and why they work. The class also introduces concepts of filtration, distillation, and chromatography and how they work. This class is aimed at students in Years 7 - 9 who want to build a foundation in chemistry!
