Host: After starting her career in the oil industry, Fran changed careers to become a climate change officer in a local authority. The purpose of this role is to create and execute an action plan for the authority to become carbon neutral by 2030, to fit with the declaration of a climate emergency in December last year.Climate change is an issue which affects us all and there are many careers you can take that focus on the environment & sustainability. In this class, Fran will talk through the journey she took in her career to become a Climate Change officer, showing that by taking different opportunities to learn a range of skills you can make a successful career change. Fran will also discuss the skills utilised every day in the job, some of the highs and lows of the role and examples of other industry jobs encountered along the way.
This is a really useful class for anyone interested in a career within the Climate industry but also for those who are still exploring the different industries they may want to work within. The class also provides a good example of how you can begin on one career journey and change direction as you learn what interests you.

You will need a laptop or device with internet connection to watch the class, as well as a pen and notepad for taking notes.
What to expect:
- This class will take place online via a Zoom webinar.
- For live classes, please arrive promptly. Students' cameras and microphones are disabled by default.
- For on demand classes, students will be watching a recording of a previous live class.
