Host: Hon Professor Dr Geraldine Akerman is the current chair of the Division of Forensic Psychology executive committee. Geraldine worked for the Prison Service for 22 years and more recently for the NHS. Geraldine has edited books on the subjects of Therapeutic Communities and problematic sexual interests and written papers and book chapters on these subjects. Geraldine is cofounder of the Let’s Talk Forensic Psychology YouTube channel and a director of the Forensic Psychology Network Ltd. Applying psychological theory to a criminal investigation is forensic psychology. In this session, Geraldine will talk through her path to becoming a Forensic Psychologist. She will highlight the experiences they gained along the way, discuss a typical day and any challenges and benefits of being a Forensic Psychologist. This class is great for any student interested in forensics or psychology to get a better look at one possible career path!
